Congratulations to our friends at iStrategyLabs, who ranked #2 overall, with moments at #1, by Mashable for its startup Grandstand for the most buzz at the South by Southwest Interactive festival this past week in Austin, Texas.

Grandstand, as described by iStrategyLabs, ”is a web platform that transforms social and mobile actions (check-ins, tweets, likes, SMS) into a real-time game and prizing platform — giving any venue (restaurants, stadiums, movie theaters, retail stores, conferences etc.) the ability to run promotions, drive ad revenue, and encourage the social sharing of their brand.  It can also serve as a social data visualization tool for showing off your brand’s social presence in a new way.”

When contacted exclusively by Distriction, iStrategyLabs founder, Peter Corbett, said, “What started as an idea over beers in the office, has turned into an app that took a top 3 slot in the SXSW Accelerator and was named the 2nd most buzzed about during the festival by Mashable. It’s now being used by great brands like Ford, GE and Hilton, and we’re trying our best to keep up with the demand for the product.”

“I’m excited that our team is bucking the typical startup trend – we’re fully bootstrapped, have grown to nearly 20 employees and have a huge opportunity before us,” Corbett continued. “Our hybrid product + service model has let us grow steadily even through the toughest economic times while still pushing hard to support the tech and creative communities we’re a part of. SXSW’s Accelerator, at which iStrategyLab’s Grandstand competed, is judged by both a panel of experts and a live audience of SXSW Interactive attendees, judges advancements in social media, mobile apps, and web entertainment, among a total of 48 companies.
